Kristine Reynaldo teaches literature at UP Diliman. Broadly concerned with the political dimension of the cultural and the cultural forms of the political, she wrote her Cultural Studies dissertation on the problem of contemporary “populist” political violence and its contexts of emergence, particularly in relation to questions of nationalism, democracy, and development as key terms of postcolonial modernity. She nurses a nascent research interest in urban tattoo cultures in Southeast and East Asia as a marginal site from which to observe and interrogate gender, identity, cosmopolitanism, creative labor, and commodification. She enjoys hiking and collects tattoos.
